I had no idea - by 1996 I had comprehensively quit HERO System games (in part because I didn't like the way that they were reorganizing it, but also because everything that HERO could do that I wanted to do, I found that GURPS, MSH, V&V, or BRP could do better; I've never even bothered to look at 5th or 6th edition HERO). However, I may have to find a copy of that for setting ideas, just as I keep a copy of Dark Champions on hand for ideas on how to handle organized crime in a game setting.faoladhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03691952430041394614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116962779728480800.post-24886935913277932502014-03-19T23:54:56.927-07:002014-03-19T23:54:56.927-07:00Very happy to see you write about Lords of Creatio...Very happy to see you write about Lords of Creation, but I disagree with this.

"Seriously, one of the alternate world settings is derived from the poetry of William Blake. There is nothing cooler than that in gaming."

Hero Games's 1996 "The Ultimate Super Mage" had a whole cosmology based upon William Blake for playing out Dr.Strange-style superheroes. I claim this trumps Lords of Creation.Jay Duggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10181402451119462976noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116962779728480800.post-89302051965334416142014-03-18T12:30:21.290-07:002014-03-18T12:30:21.290-07:00I have not yet given a thorough review of MgT, tho...I have not yet given a thorough review of MgT, though I do plan to do so at some point. I hasten to add that I do think that it's one of the better Traveller editions to date, so it's not like I hate it or anything (in fact, I think that its stat mods might be profitably imported to MT in place of the stat/5 method, though I need to consider that more fully).

Obviously, I largely agree with that assessment of the Gazetteer.faoladhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03691952430041394614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8116962779728480800.post-35620551085362691812014-03-18T11:57:35.982-07:002014-03-18T11:57:35.982-07:00Not to turn this into a bash-fest, but have you la...Not to turn this into a bash-fest, but have you laid out your issues with MgT? I'm a fan but also have my issues with the system, and wondered if we're on the same wavelength.

The Grayhawk Gazetteer may be the finest non-rules product ever created for any game, ever.Jason Packerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02240705069654358715noreply@blogger.com
